Sevyn Streeter is a singer/songwriter hailing from Haines City, Florida, USA who was born on July 7th, 1986. After performing in girl bands from the age of 15, she made her solo debut in 2012, releasing five singles and an E.P while working on her debut album.
Amber Streeter was a born singer. One who was singing with her church choir while still in grade school, and who won joint first place on an episode of Showtime At The Apollo at the age of 10 by singing “My Funny Valentine”. It was actually that performance that got her signed to her first management contract in her home state of Florida, which paid off for her when she was 15, and she was drafted into the girl band TG4. Unfortunately, despite a charting single release and several concerts around the United States, the band didn’t really take off and they had split by 2004. However, Streeter had starting penning her own songs while still in TG4, and it was her original material that got her noticed by producer Rich Harrison, who drafted her into another girl-group called RichGirl.
The group managed to release an album and even toured with Beyoncé herself, but it also wasn’t to be. However Streeter, who’d picked up the stage name Se7en while in RichGirl, had made a very real name for herself thanks to her considerable songwriting talents. After co-writing several hit songs for the likes of Estelle and Alicia Keys, among many others, she signed a solo record deal with Atlantic Records in 2012. Both her second solo single “It Won’t Stop” and her debut E.P “Call Me Crazy, But…” were top 30 hits on the Billboard Hot 100, and the Billboard 200, respectively, leading to a dedicated fan following and huge amounts of anticipation for her debut album. Streeter is an artist with the world at her feet, with the talent, work ethic and star power to become a very big deal indeed in the near future. For that, she comes highly recommended.
