Huey Mack (born December 16, 1991) is the stage name of American pop/rock and hip-hop rapper Joseph Michael, best know for his debut full-length “Pretending Perfection”, hailing from Morgantown, West Virginia, U.S.
Born and raised in West Virginia’s Morgantown, Joseph Michael’s earliest musical excursions into hip-hop production came on a whim. At the age of 14, with little else to do with himself, the teenager began producing beats and rhythms, and ultimately adding lyrics until he was regularly creating complete songs. After graduating from high school, Michael began pursuing his music with greater determination and released a run of free mixtapes in order to promote himself. Following the release of the mixtapes “Wish Me Luck and “A Boy Named Hue”, the rapper began to develop a small but loyal fan base in and around West Virginia, playing regular shows in bars and clubs.
In 2012 alongside rapper Mike Stud, Huey Mack issued the mixtape “Click”, which he supported by a brief national tour. Michael’s experiences of touring and life as a musician were documented on his 2013 debut album “Pretending Perfection”. Featuring easy-listening, laid back raps which instantly draw comparisons to Asher Roth, the record proved popular among college rap fans for its pop/rock vibe. Two years later Michael issued his follow-up album “Things Change” featuring the likes of Mike Stud, Twista, and Afrojack. Released on his own label, Huey Mack LLC, the record highlights a rapper growing in confidence and skill.
