Britt Nicole (born August 2, 1984) is an American Christian pop, R&B and dance singer-songwriter, best known for her breakthrough single “You”, hailing from Kannapolis, North Carolina.
Nicole’s earliest musical excursion came at the tender age of three when she started singing in her local church choir. Alongside her brother and cousin, Nicole began to contribute to the church’s TV program on the Charlotte TV station WAXN, before turning her attention to dancing. The singer later joined her high school's choir group, and turned down a scholarship from Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee in order to focus on her music career. Intent on getting her music out there she independently released her debut album “Follow the Call” in January 2010. The record led to the singer signing a management deal with Vertical Entertainment and the EP “Brittany Waddel” in 2004. Following a couple of years honing her vocal talents, in 2006 Nicole signed with the Christian label Sparrow Records and contributed vocals to the hip-hop group GRITS’ 2006 album “Redemption”. The singer’s major label debut “Say It” was issued by Sparrow Records in May 2007, spawning the singles “You”, “Believe”, and “Set the World of Fire”. Earning a host of positive reviews from the critical press, the album peaked at No. 40 on the Billboard Christian Albums chart. In support of “Say It” Nicole toured as the opening act on the 2007 Winter Jam Tour, after which she released the Christmas EP “Holiday Trio”.
Ahead of her sophomore full-length Nicole released the eponymous “The Lost Get Found”, which peaked at No. 8 on the Billboard Hot Christian Songs Chart. The album of the same name arrived in August 2009 topping the Christian Albums Chart and peaked at No. 62 on the Billboard 200. The album spawned the subsequent singles “Walk on the Water” and “Hanging On”, and expanded Nicole’s fan base to the UK. In March 2012 Nicole released her fourth studio album “Gold” led by the singles “All This Time”, “Stand”, and “Ready or Not”. Once again earning strong reviews from the critical press and topping the Christian Album Chart, the album peaked at No. 41 on the Billboard 200.
